I have a former client who is an artist. One of her friends is a filmmaker AND the caretaker of her aging father who has dementia. Coincidentally her father's name is Herb. She and her husband, who is a photojournalist, created this video of her experience caring for her father. Though Dad is not this advanced with dementia, I relate to this video on many levels. It costs $1.99 to subscribe to the video but if you're inspired to both support the artist and humor me, please watch it. It's about 10 minutes long and well worth it in my opinion. But then again, I'm smack dab in the middle of it. http://mediastorm.com/publication/the-sandwich-generation
In addition, I've learned about a book that is gaining popularity called Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters In The End. http://www.amazon.com/dp/0805095152/?tag=mh0b-20&hvadid=7000020933&ref=pd_sl_7xut22beio_e It looks at how medicine can support aging and the end of our lives.
