The threat of an ice storm had me wondering if we would be delayed another week. Thankfully, Dad was able to get his bloodwork done on Wednesday (looked good) and his chemo infusion on Thursday. Unfortunately, his veins weren't cooperating so well. The nurses had the stick him about 6 times because his veins would blow out. That's their lingo, not mine. I'm not sure exactly what it means except that they would have to find a new vein and start all over again. So, I was able to reschedule his port installation procedure from next Friday (which would mean another vein infusion) to Wednesday. I'm not sure how much dad understands about the port. He keeps comparing it to the stents he has in his body. I hope he takes to it okay. It will certainly make his chemotherapy appointments go more smoothly.
Friday after chemotherapy are Dad's best days. The steroids they give him with the infusion give him lots of energy and enthusiasm. He was in rare form today and tonight. It was fun seeing him like that. He even gave Olivia dating advice.
We think the weather is going to be nice this weekend. Jay is going to try to get him on the golf course. Well, maybe just the putting green or something. We brought his clubs and shoes back from Pinehurst so he's set. But he hasn't picked up a club since October I think. I hope he's up for it. He needs some activity in his life.
Speaking of which, we made the trek to Pinehurst on Tuesday and Dad had a marvelous time with his friends. Thank you to all of you who came out to visit. A big thanks to Steven for taking him to his favorite book store and lunch and to Sandy for bringing him back. It was so good to see you. I stayed back and got the house cleaned and oversaw work by the exterminators and hvac people. By the way, Mack Maids did a good job cleaning the house. If you're looking for someone in the Sandhills area tell them I sent you. http://www.mackmaids.com
Have a wonderful weekend.
