I didn’t win the dadgum Paula Deen Limerick contest. Apparently poets – with really good southern drawls – abound in our area. I think it’s because my accent wasn’t quite up to snuff. I should’ve had Dennis read it for me. Or Dr. Land. Either way, I lost. You can hear the winners, if you want, at share.triangle.com/PaulaDeen. Here’s mine, so you can see how it compares.

A sweet lil’ lady down South
Feared havin’ to live hand to mouth
She made fancy fixins
Threw buttery gritz in
Now, ya’ll love ‘er from North to South

well if it makes you feel better, you did get runner up in the photo caption contest I sent to you.
You said, "you come here often?"
Now that was literary genius!!!

Thank you. I'm glad you recognize it. Of course, it does run in the family.

yes, well, we are the fortunate ones. Don't be distressed when you find that others don't recognise your talent. They don't understand...

Only a true friend will stand by your sucky poetry. Didn't I read that in one of those chain email things?

There was a young poet named Pammy
whose poetry was quite hammy
but her friends who loved her
couldn%u2019t find words to tell her
so instead they ate bread and jammy

ok, what do you expect in a minute and a half...but like you said, it runs in the family!
